Bendigo Health is excited to offer a Geriatric Medicine Advanced Trainee (Registrar) position for 2026–2027, open to both RACP-accredited and suitably experienced non-accredited applicants. This role provides a dynamic and supportive learning environment for doctors seeking to develop expertise in geriatric medicine across a variety of clinical settings.

Registrars will rotate through a range of terms, including the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit, Orthogeriatrics and Surgical Liaison, Acute Geriatric Medicine (incorporating Psychiatry and General Medicine consults), Geriatric Medicine in the Emergency Department, and Community Geriatric Medicine (GEM@Home). Term allocations are tailored to each registrar’s individual training needs while balancing service requirements.

Trainees will actively participate in weekly geriatric clinics, which may include General Geriatric Medicine, CDAMS, Telehealth services, Falls and Balance, Continence, or the Movement Disorder Clinic. Registrars are also expected to supervise and support junior medical staff, fostering teaching, leadership, and supervisory skills.

The program supports ongoing professional development through participation in fortnightly Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program sessions, Northern Alliance in-house education, and Bendigo Health registrar training activities. For RACP-accredited trainees, a structured three-year training pathway is available, offering 1–2 years at Bendigo Health in combination with a year at Austin Health.

This is an excellent opportunity to grow as a clinician in a collaborative regional health service while gaining broad and diverse experience in geriatric medicine.
