As a member of the dynamic Medical Imaging team the Sonographer Trainee will develop and demonstrate extensive knowledge, experience and competence in diagnostic ultrasound.

The Sonographer Trainee will be supported through their postgraduate studies, working towards performing the full range of ultrasound examinations, to a consistently high standard using a patient focused approach.

Rotation through the general radiography area may be required depending on skill level and staffing requirements.

The Medical Imaging Department 

The Medical Imaging team performs a full range of diagnostic Imaging examinations to a consistently high standard using a patient focused approach. Completing around 110,000 examinations per year at Bendigo Health, as well providing breast screen services to the Bendigo, Echuca and Mildura regions.

Imaging services are provided to inpatients and to outpatients referred from Bendigo Health clinics and local GPs and specialists. The department is staffed by radiologists, medical imaging technologists, sonographers, nurses and administration staff.

Medical Imaging services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for urgent cases. Imaging services provided include:-

  • General radiography (x-ray)
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Mammography
  • DEXA
  • MRI
  • CT scanning
  • Ultrasound (all general, obstetric, small parts, musculo-skeletal and vascular examinations)
  • Digital Subtraction Angiography
  • Intra-operative and interventional work
  • Mobile x-ray and fluoroscopy
